What can & can't go in a skip?
Knowing what's allowed keeps your hire simple, safe and surprise-free. Here's a clear rundown of what you can load, what needs declaring, and what we can't take.
Acceptable waste
Anything that isn't hazardous to people or the environment is generally fine to go in. The list below isn't exhaustive, but it gives you a good idea.
Controlled waste — please declare
These items can go in a skip, but they need handling carefully. Just let us know when you book so we can plan ahead.
Accepted, but must be kept separate from general waste — usually in its own skip. Let us know when you book.
Sofas, armchairs and similar are controlled waste and must be declared when ordering.
Accepted, but please tell us when booking so we can plan the load.
Prohibited waste
These items cannot go in a skip. They're hazardous or need specialist processing, and the hirer is legally responsible for a skip's contents — so please keep them out unless we've agreed it beforehand.
The 16-yard Jumbo is light waste only
Our Jumbo Skip is built for large volumes of light waste. Heavy materials like rubble, bricks, soil, concrete and tiles must not go in it. For heavy construction waste, the 8-yard Maxi Skip is the one you want.
